Story 77-03 / 1977 Coupe

In 1976 I ordered a 77 model in primer. It was delivered in november to Joseph Chevrolet in Cincinnati Ohio. When it arrived, it had a luggage rack that I did not order. I Told them to remove the rack, repair the holes and paint it. They did not want to do this as I would not be happy with the finished product.

A new unit was ordered and was delivered in april. It was painted a charcoal color in imron paint. Before the car was finished I saw the new 78 model and ordered one in primer.

Having a good friend that owned the dealership(who also has a primer 75), arrangements were made for a special tour to see this unit being built in St Louis. We were at the factory with our own guide for about 3 hours following this car as it progressed down the assembly line. They had 4 cars in view that they were trying different color combinations for the new pace car. This is where we got the idea for the colors on ours.

Once the car arrived in town it was painted a two tone black/charcoal also in imron paint. I Drove this car for four years every day. At this time the paint began to spider due to a clear coat that was applied when painted. The car was stripped and painted sunfire yellow, same as my 67 the car was driven about 1000 miles until 1989 when I put under covers in the garage. In 2005 I brought it back in service and use it for special events and cruise in's
